BIO

Indie folk/rock artist, Christopher Kent, brings an acoustical & vocal vibrancy to the introspective & impassioned soul. Making and playing music passionately for 25+ years, the Madison, WI native has travelled his sound around the globe on his life’s journey tracing midwest roots, to France, to Singapore and back again.

In a sound built on American roots music (namely folk, rock, and blues influence), the multi-instrumentalist layers a sound that harmonizes guitar, keys and vocals, along with a vulnerable and authentic lyrical approach that resonates in solidarity to what we all seek in the human journey. The quest for love (+self love), acceptance, and purpose.

Christopher’s live play features guitar, and varies finger-picking, traditional folk rhythm, and blues riffing on guitar some have described as alike acoustically to Ben Harper. For a number of songs he leverages live looping to bring out the layered dimensions. His voice is often described warm and gentle akin in style to James Taylor.

The EP “Songbird - Songs of the inner soul,” is Christopher’s current musical release (May 2024). The concept album delves into the struggles of the human journey including songs of reflection, searching, and relations.

Though a singer/songwriter at heart, Christopher also loves to play the local circuit and featuring covers from his favourite artists in the folk/rock, classic rock, country-folk, americana genres. Even some Irish folk and reggae amongst others pop in there. You can hear him regularly in the Lake Country area outside of Milwaukee, and when he hits on the road for weekends in Wisconsin and just across neighboring borders. A sample of commonly known artists he covers includes James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Tom Petty and Ben Harper.

Outside of solo performance, he does guitar work for local churches, and a variety of children’s music, as well as performances for senior living groups. In previous years he has been a member of various rock ‘n’ roll and blues bands in the Madison/Milwaukee areas.

"My music reflects and is inspired by my journey, the real human journey in all of its triumphs and struggles. And it brings with it a message of hope that I like to call a roots revivalist version of Christianity - that is all-loving, all-inclusive, always grateful, always giving. I love creating music for everything that it makes us feel. It's meant to be shared, it's meant to inspire. I hope you dig the musical sounds and message of love that comes with it." Peace - Chris

“Great voice and diverse music choices. Will definitely see him again!” ~ Eric K.

“Chris was just a "plug and play" - being able to jump right in and blend with the team, coordinate and collaborate with the keyboardist, and offer the guitar based melodies and riffs that helped carry the tune for the Congregation! Chris was dependable and punctual, and just an all around cordial, polite, fun, and friendly guy to "jam with" and be around.” ~ Becky B.

“Chris played some great acoustic music for our party, he even learned some special requests for the event. Great guy and excellent musician!”

~ Dave M.
